Over the last month Dumfries and Galloway Blood Bikes have received £37,250 in grants and funding to boost the service provided to the NHS in Dumfries and Galloway, we have received £22,250 for 2 Yamaha FJR1300 motorcycles direct from Yamaha UK from NHS Dumfries and Galloway Endowment Fund, £12,000 from Morrisons Foundation for a further Yamaha FJR 1300 again direct from Yamaha UK, with a £2,000 grant from Dumfries and Galloway Safety Partnership, this money with the Morrisons money, as well as the purchase of the  motorcycle is to pay for rider training, protective hi viz jackets and video cameras for each bike.

A further £800 has been received from Dumfries Rotary Club to pay for GPS trackers for each of the groups bikes allowing the NHS labs to be able to track their deliveries and allowing us to track the riders and help to keep them safe.

This funding represents a real commitment from the NHS in appreciation of the service provided by Blood Bikes, making a difference in patient treatment and care.

The funding allows Dumfries and Galloway Blood bikes to be able to expand the service and set up further locations for the bikes to be based within our area.
