April 2024 statistics are now in and the audit completed, and as our volunteers have sensed, it has started to get busier again, with an increased number of missions and around 3,000 more miles covered in April compared to March.

On Thursday the 25th of April, volunteer controller Carolyn dispatched volunteer rider Andy D to collect a heart monitor from a patient in Liskeard and deliver it back to Derriford Hospital @uhp_nhs
This job (number 6949) was a major milestone in South West Blood Bikes history as we reached 100,000 miles travelled by our blood bikes/blood cars with medical items on board ( we only count the miles when we are transporting items and don't count the return journey), whilst supporting the NHS and Hospices in Devon and beyond. Every single one of those miles was travelled completely free of charge and did not cost the hospitals, hospices or patients a single penny!
We could not have reached this amazing milestone without our wonderful volunteers who give their time time for free to help others and our generous supporters who enable us to continue to provide the service with their fantastic donations 👏👏👏
